Original Caption: Straining under back-breaking weight of cotton, the bracero falters as he waits to get checked off by the foreman. He then unloads the cotton into a nearby trailer. For this he gets 50c an hour. Cotton harvesting in McAllen, Texas area -- the bracero faulter s under the hearvy load of cotton as the bag gets weighed and checked off by the foreman. The bracero then has to unload the cotton into a nearby trailer. His wage is $.50 per hour. Weighing in cotton, a bracero stumbles under its crushing bulk. Pay for a job like this runs about 50c an hour. (Jubilee: A Magazine for the Church and Her People, April 1957, p. 41.)
